Cheers,
I am facing a requirement that I don't know a common solution for:
A whole LAN has to be connected to the rest of the world - but mobile!
I am thinking about using cellular phones for that (GSM as the
european standard) and to attach something like routers on both sides.
Protocols needed are basically SNA and NetBIOS, so either it should be
bridging routers, or I will have to use some encapsulation technique,
DLSw would be welcome of course. But all this is not the point.
********What I really worry about are things like speed, connection
establishment delay, load balancing, stability, ... **********
So I would like to use a 100% digital connection, from GSM to ISDN or
maybe even from GSM to GSM. I heard about the AVM-M1 PCMCIA card doing
this, which is used for dial-in connections from laptops, giving the
client OS a regular CAPI. I wonder whether this is possible with a
NetWare MPR, i.e. a NetWare Server, as well. Can NetWare handle
(multiple) PCMCIA? Does the M1 provide a CAPI for NetWare? (I've been
told it's compatible to the B1, so it should!?!)
Or, are there any other solution you suggest? Maybe some hardware
boxes, like an external ISDN-GSM adaptor or a CISCO with GSM support?
Any hints are highly appreciated!!!
Thanx,
Ekkehard
